Transtornos Alimentares e Imagem Corporal na Adolescência: Uma Análise da Produção Científica em Psicologia

Resumo

O presente estudo objetivou analisar a produção científica em psicologia a respeito de transtornos alimentares e imagem corporal em adolescentes, no período de 2003 a 2007. Para tanto, procedeu-se à busca informatizada na base de dados eletrônica PsycInfo, utilizando-se as palavras-chave body image, eating disorders e adolescence. Dessa pesquisa, extraíram-se resumos e complementos que foram organizados em categorias temáticas proposta por Bardin (2008). Os resultados permitiram identificar que o número de publicações se manteve estável ao longo dos anos que foram alvo de análise, assim como os Estados Unidos e a Austrália foram os países que mais publicaram. Os estudos empíricos se destacaram e foram publicados em periódicos especializados da área, dentre eles o Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention e o Eating and Weight Disorders. Entre os temas pesquisados, houve destaque para a avaliação dos fatores de risco para transtornos alimentares, com ênfase em pesquisas com o sexo feminino, e a população adolescente.
