Abstract

Open innovation and dispersed knowledge management are essential strategies for competitiveness and innovation in modern organizations. These approaches allow companies to transcend their internal boundaries, leveraging a broader spectrum of ideas and knowledge. However, implementing these strategies comes with significant challenges, especially related to the risks of managing dispersed knowledge and integrating external contributions effectively. These risks can negatively affect the efficiency and success of innovation projects. Using the systematic review process, this study aims to understand the risks associated with managing dispersed knowledge in open innovation and identify effective strategies for their mitigation. Preliminary results point to the importance of robust knowledge management and collaboration mechanisms, highlighting the need to balance openness and protection of intellectual property in innovation projects. This work contributes to the literature by providing insights into how organizations can navigate the challenges of open innovation while promoting the effective management of dispersed knowledge.
