Clarke's The End of Childhood breaks with the traditional utopian paradigm by shifting the narrative's focus beyond humanity. The work conceives of humankind as a transitional stage in a larger evolutionary process, the culmination of which requires its transcendence. In this context, the Lords do not act as spiritual guides, but as mediators tasked with stabilizing history and establishing the suspension necessary for the final metamorphosis. The established global peace and abundance constitute a "utopian desert," often interpreted as stagnation, but which the novel reveals to be a civilizational cocoon: a gestational pause preparing the emergence of a post-human consciousness integrated with the Cosmic Mind. Thus, Clarke reformulates the classical notion of utopia, shifting it from the political to the ontological plane, where the transformation of the species is presented as a necessary condition for the emergence of higher forms of existence.
André Karasczuk Taniguchi Copyright (c) 2026 André Karasczuk Taniguchi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-04-17 2026-04-17 26 1 AS CONFIGURAÇÕES DO FANTÁSTICO E DO DUPLO EM ELZA E HELENA, DE GASTÃO CRULS http://editorarevistas.mackenzie.br/index.php/cpgl/article/view/17966
Thais Regina Gimenes Chagas Copyright (c) 2026 Thais Regina Gimenes Chagas https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-04-17 2026-04-17 26 1 Enchantment and Morality in Reinações de Narizinho and O Picapau Amarelo: The Role of Fantasy http://editorarevistas.mackenzie.br/index.php/cpgl/article/view/17830
This article discusses how Monteiro Lobato intertwines reality and fantasy in Reinações de Narizinho and O Picapau Amarelo to foster children’s imagination and moral development. It highlights the blending of traditional fairy tales with the Sítio universe, encouraging a critical and active engagement from the young reader. Characters such as Emília and Narizinho play central roles in building this playful realm that combines education and entertainment, without underestimating children’s intelligence.
This article discusses the marks of proximity between the play “Auto da Compadecida”, by Ariano Suassuna, and the Greek myth of Orpheus. In addition to the work is commonly associated with the plays of Gil Vicente and the Spanish theater of the 17th century, João Grilo's judgment revolves around the mytheme of the return of the dead. The debate about Orpheus is based on Bulfinch (2002) and Brunel (2000). The theoretical review also brings reflections of Campbell (2010) and Eliade (2002). The corpus of analysis is focused on the third act of Suassuna's text, from selected excerpts that explore similarities and differences in relation to the myth.
This article analyzes O Auto da Compadecida from the perspective of adaptation and intermediality, tracing its trajectory from the 1955 theatrical text to the acclaimed 2000 film version. Drawing on Linda Hutcheon’s theory of adaptation and on the intertextuality framework developed by Koch, Bentes, and Cavalcante, the study examines how Guel Arraes’s film transforms and recreates elements of Ariano Suassuna’s work. It also incorporates Braulio Tavares’s reflections on the Northeastern storytelling tradition, understood as a continuous process of retelling that travels across generations and media. The article highlights character modifications, narrative choices, and audiovisual strategies that update the meanings of the original play, arguing that adaptation is not derivative but a creative practice that keeps foundational cultural narratives alive.
Nathália Taise de Camargo Mendes Copyright (c) 2026 Nathália Taise de Camargo Mendes https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-04-17 2026-04-17 26 1 LITERATURA PÓS-AUTÔNOMA http://editorarevistas.mackenzie.br/index.php/cpgl/article/view/17750
Post-autonomous literature is a concept established by Ludmer (2010) who discusses how current literatures cross literary boundaries. The study is theoretically and methodologically supported by French discursive semiotics and its practical developments in dialogue with Bertrand, Barros, Discini, Fiorin, Fontanille, Fontanille and Zilberberg and Greimas and Courtés. We found that, in the simulacra, there is an underlying negative sanction against the elderly internet user and that it is composed of the modal principle of not knowing how to do, not knowing how to operate technologies, being related to diseases and not having digital literacy.
RAIMUNDO ISÍDIO DE SOUSA Copyright (c) 2026 RAIMUNDO ISÍDIO DE SOUSA https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-04-17 2026-04-17 26 1 O crime da bas-bleu http://editorarevistas.mackenzie.br/index.php/cpgl/article/view/18089
This article aims to explore the murder of illustrator Roberto Rodrigues by writer and journalist Sylvia Serafim in 1929 through the lens of the processes of the aestheticization of violence and sensationalism. It analyzes how the media shaped the perception of the crime and the defendant's figure, highlighting the role of the press in constructing narratives that transcend the fact itself, perpetuating a figure that remains dehumanized to this day. Because of the crime, both Sylvia’s and Roberto’s intellectual and artistic productions were forgotten and their biographies reduced to its conditions, respectively, of murderess and martyr. The conclusions point to the complexity of the case, which goes beyond a simple criminal act, highlighting the political instrumentalization of Serafim's figure by both her detractors and even her defenders.
Sergio Schargel Copyright (c) 2026 Sergio Schargel https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-04-17 2026-04-17 26 1 Páginas Inciais http://editorarevistas.mackenzie.br/index.php/cpgl/article/view/18667 Nathália Taise de Camargo Mendes Copyright (c) 2026 Nathália Taise de Camargo Mendes https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-04-17 2026-04-17 26 1 Editorial http://editorarevistas.mackenzie.br/index.php/cpgl/article/view/18668 Elaine Cristina Prado dos Santos Copyright (c) 2026 Elaine Cristina Prado dos Santos https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-04-17 2026-04-17 26 1
